This is an Air Force Pathways Internship position located at Hill AFB, Utah. The Pathways Intern Program is a planned, progressive education program that provides for the integration of a student's academic studies with target positions in the Federal Workforce. The Pathways Intern Program allows students to gain real, paid work experience while pursuing a diploma, degree or certificate in a particular career field. Work locations vary throughout Hill Air Force Base, and the duties performed are designed to provide hands-on experience in the specific discipline for which hired. At the agency's discretion, students who successfully complete all academic and on-the-job training requirements, meet qualification requirements, and meet other eligibility requirements may be offered permanent positions with the Air Force. PERMANENT PLACEMENT IS NEITHER GUARANTEED NOR MANDATORY. You must be recommended for permanent placement by the management of your agency or organization. Placement would be into an entry-level position that includes work directly related to your education, which may or may not have further noncompetitive promotion potential.

HOURLY WAGE : $13.35 TO $18.77This position is located in the 309th Commodities Maintenance Group ; however, this announcement may be used to fill other positions at Hill Air Force Base.

The purpose of this position is to provide qualifying work experience through the Pathways Internship Program in the Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer field. Work will be with a Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer of higher grade working on a variety of assignments with limited complexity and with specific guidance. Will be required to become familiar with the processes and requirements of the assignments assigned. Work will be under close supervision and review, usually carrying out tasks at the specific direction of a higher grade specialist.
As a Student Trainee (Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer), WG-8801-03 in the Pathways Internship Program you will work effectively with peers and supervisors. You will also:
Adhere to the organization's rules, policies and standards of conduct.
Make a genuine effort to effectively develop the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the position.
Complete all required on-the-job training, minimum of 640 hours, before or concurrently with education requirements.

Experience: No previous relatable experience is required for this position.

3. Works inside controlled environment buildings. Is required to work any scheduled shift (day, swing, or graveyard). May be required to work overtime or uncommon tour of duty.
4. Must maintain, as a condition of employment, current Production Acceptance Certification (PAC). Will be responsible for and held accountable for all incumbent certified work (product and/or service) performed.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate level security clearance as a condition of employment. NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL
WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to discomfort in wearing protective clothing and safety equipment. Inside shop subject to shop noises and caustic, toxic and noxious chemicals and vapors. Exposure to paint thinner fumes and primers and paints. Must take appropriate safety precautions and wear and use all required safety equipment. Shop area is subject to extremes in temperature from cold in the winter to very hot in the summer. Periodic physical examination required.
