This is an Air Force Pathways Internship position located at Hill AFB, Utah. The Pathways Intern Program is a planned, progressive education program that provides for the integration of a student's academic studies with target positions in the Federal Workforce. The Pathways Intern Program allows students to gain real, paid work experience while pursuing a diploma, degree or certificate in a particular career field. Work locations vary throughout Hill Air Force Base, and the duties performed are designed to provide hands-on experience in the specific discipline for which hired. At the agency's discretion, students who successfully complete all academic and on-the-job training requirements, meet qualification requirements, and meet other eligibility requirements may be offered permanent positions with the Air Force. PERMANENT PLACEMENT IS NEITHER GUARANTEED NOR MANDATORY. You must be recommended for permanent placement by the management of your agency or organization. Placement would be into an entry-level position that includes work directly related to your education, which may or may not have further noncompetitive promotion potential.

HOURLY WAGE : $13.49 TO $18.96
This position is located in the 309th Maintenance Support SQ ;however, this announcement may be used to fill other positions at Hill Air Force Base.
WHO MAY APPLY: Students who are enrolled or intending to enroll in a "Maintenance Mechanic" curriculum. Supporting educational documentation will be reviewed to determine applicability of curriculum to the field of Maintenance Mechanic. Previously completed education will not be accepted as eligibility for student internship appointments.

The purpose of this position is to provide qualifying work experience through the Pathways Internship Program in the Maintenance Mechanic field. Work will be with a Maintenance Mechanic of higher grade working on a variety of assignments with limited complexity and with specific guidance. Will be required to become familiar with the processes and requirements of the assignments assigned. Work will be under close supervision and review, usually carrying out tasks at the specific direction of a higher grade specialist.
As a Student Trainee (Maintenance Mechanic), WG-4701-03 in the Pathways Internship Program you will work effectively with peers and supervisors. You will also:- Adhere to the organization's rules, policies and standards of conduct.
Make a genuine effort to effectively develop the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the position.
Complete all required on-the-job training, minimum of 640 hours, before or concurrently with education requirements.
EXPERIENCE: No previous relatable experience is required for this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
1. Ability to follow basic directions and instructions.
2. Ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing.
3. Ability to learn common and typical tasks of the trade.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain an SECRET securityclearance as a condition of employment.

3. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
4. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires considerable bending, kneeling, standing and stooping. On-Site work typically requires crawling,climbing on ladders, scaffolds, and roof tops. Work encompasses strenuous physical exertion when bending andshaping the more complex items in handling larger and bulkier material. Requires physical effort which includesprolonged standing on production lines; climbing up and down ladders and scaffolds; working cramped and awkwardpositions while installing items; and reaching, lifting and bending while using hand and powered tools in
uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Is frequently required to perform heavy lifting/carrying, 25 pounds
and over, with assistance.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee works indoors and outdoor , on elevated structures, and in cramped areas. Subject to discomfort from
face masks or other protective devices when there is a possibility of exposure to chemicals, heat, steam, noise,
noxious gases, fumes, or acids. Occasionally works outside, on top of buildings, in drafty attic spaces, and in
cramped areas with low overheads. Subject to possible burns , electrical shocks, cuts, strains, bruises, and chemical
irritations. To reduce dangers from these and other similar conditions follows prescribed safety practices and use
safety equipment such as safety glasses, hard-toe shoes, respirators, hard hats, and fire retardant gloves.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
