Essential Functions: Leader and subject matter expert providing Information Technology engineering, architecture design, modernization, consolidation, and technical and program/project management support services to the 75th Air Base Wing Communications and Information Directorate (75 ABW/SC) at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), Utah, and the Hill Enterprise Data Center (HEDC) Modernization and Consolidation program. Leader and subject matter expert in Oracle and SQL Server relational databases, database engineering, storage area network, VMware Server Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure, Platform as a Service (Paas), Software as a Service (SaaS) and traditional applications on-boarding, server virtualization and consolidation, architecture modernization, quality, and configuration management. Leads colleagues and project teams. Provides technical and practical leadership supporting over 15 distinct Air Force and DoD applications in an enterprise data center environment. Performs application services onboarding and sustainment, optimizing the consolidation of database servers in a virtual environment into a cluster of virtual servers where possible. Designs the application lifecycle management system for implementation as a new information system Architect/modernize current cloud infrastructure to implement both a virtual and physical environment for file, print, web, applications, and database systems supporting the depot maintenance and logistics operations. Subject matter expert for the storage environment, develops plans to manage ongoing upgrades, patches and improvements. Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations. Provides leadership and direction in developing and implementing short and long term storage systems and strategies to achieve organizational objectives. Provides effective storage allocation and identifies backup, recovery, archival procedures. Create/update/maintain all storage related documentation and diagrams of the storage hardware infrastructure Develop and perform regular reporting for projects, status, management, and technical reports. Supports the configuration management and quality management of enterprise data center processes. Assists in the development of designated briefings and various technical and test reports; provides feedback and comments on associated program documents; modifies and/or develops specifications and test plans/reports, Cultivates open and effective communications with the Government Program Manager and the professional team of AF civilians and contractors, team leads, and technicians. Assures compliance of hardware and software with the applicable Air Force Instructions. Subject matter expert providing technical advice on modernization design integrity and compliance with respect to the pertinent certification standards, maintenance and operational considerations. Performs work duties as assigned. Position Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Minimum Requirements: BS Electrical Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Aerospace Engineering, BS Computer Science. 7yrs directly related experience (5yrs with MS degree). At least 3yrs progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership. 8 yrs directly related experience may substitute for a degree.
